Office Visits

Our practice is committed to providing you and your family with safe, gentle, high-quality dental care. We understand that you or your child may feel anxious about visiting the dentist. We are sensitive to your needs, and it is our goal to make you feel comfortable visiting our practice while providing the best care possible.

Your first visit is all about you: your comfort, your happiness, and your health

Your first visit will be a comprehensive oral evaluation with Dr. Dougherty.  During this time, we will review all of your medical and dental history information gathered in your new patient forms.  We will assess any previous x-rays received and take additional x-rays necessary to thoroughly examine your teeth.  The initial visit will also include intraoral photographs to document the condition of your teeth and gums.  Dr. Dougherty will also evaluate the health of your gums with a periodontal exam.  An oral cancer exam is performed at every appointment.

Dr. Dougherty will then create an individualized treatment plan.  Your second appointment will be a consultation to present the recommended treatment.  This time is especially reserved for your understanding of the recommended treatment; as well as a great time to ask questions and discuss finances and insurance.    Your preventative care appointment will be scheduled based on the findings at the initial oral evaluation appointment.

Bring your smile, but also remember to bring these with you to your first appointment

Regular checkups are an important part of maintaining a healthy smile!

The American Dental Association recommends a visit to your dentist every six months for regular checkups and routine teeth cleanings to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

We understand you have a busy schedule, so when you’re preparing to visit our office, please remember your appointments can last between 45 and 90 minutes.
